A New Season

The days grow shorter
and summer’s pulse
quickens to an end
Then again another
beginning
with cooler nights
longer shadows
Crisp blue skies
melt into gray
Leafless trees a display of
sculpture in the yard
While under the snow
the crocus dream
of flaunting color
at a new season
